BACK from the OUTBACK!

Monday 30th April 2012

Last week the Backhouse Jones team joined 400 exhibitors in Birmingham at the Commercial Vehicle Show.

Featuring an Australian OUTBACK theme complete with a 5-foot Kangaroo, 6-foot Alligator and numerous Yucca trees, the team were out in force during the 3-day exhibition, offering free legal advice.

The event which also saw the launch of the new Mercedes Actros and the new Ford Transit Van provided visitors with a growing feeling of optimism and confidence in the industry. This year exhibitors demonstrated and displayed a wide range of goods and services, all with one common denominator at heart; the success of the industry is the key to a rapid economic recovery.

Trucks and vans will, by their versatility, always be the most efficient way to move goods in the UK. Today's truck fleet moves five times more freight than 50 years ago, despite there being far fewer HGV's on the road. This not only represents the ever-growing efficiency of the industry and fleet operators but also their efforts to minimise the sector's environmental footprint.

Paul Everitt, Chief Executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders commented "The commercial vehicle industry has bounced back from recession with vigour - a fact spelt out by the enthusiasm for the 2012 show".
