Freight crime on the rise

Wednesday 15th April 2009

The amount of reported lorry crime has doubled over the last 12 months, according to new figures published by the freight intelligence unit Truckpol.

It found that in 2007 there were 2284 incidents, but by mid-December 2008 there had been 4171. Truckpol said organised criminals are targeting the freight industry and that several police forces are now making stopping lorry crime a priority.
