Graduated Fixed Penalties: go live date 28 May

Tuesday 26th May 2009

Members are reminded that Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA)

officers are expected to begin issuing fixed penalties to drivers for infringements detected during roadside enforcement checks from this Thursday. The new powers, which came into effect from the beginning of April, also allow both the police and VOSA officers to require a deposit to be paid by drivers who are unable to supply a satisfactory UK address and to immobilise prohibited vehicles. Comprehensive information and advice can be found in the FTA compliance guide and FTA has also produced a sample letter to drivers. Both operator tools can be downloaded free of charge by members here).

Shopfta has also produced:

  • a graduated fixed penalty driver card (click here )
  • a graduated fixed penalty poster (click here)
  • a DVD on routine vehicle checks for large goods vehicles (click here)
  • a DVD on routine vehicle checks for and vans and light goods vehicles (click here)
