Impounding for passenger vehicles

Legislation has been published which will introduce enforcement powers of impounding for public service vehicles (psvs) from 1 October, along the same lines as the existing system for goods vehicles.

Psvs are passenger vehicles used for hire or reward and the new legislation will mean that if they are used without the required licence or permit in place they can be detained, impounded and ultimately disposed of.

Members who operate not-for-profit passenger vehicle operations covered by permit schemes are reminded to ensure that permits are in order before this date.
