Mark Davies - Champion!

Tuesday 5th January 2010

We reported in June 2009 that Mark Davies, a member of the regulatory Transport team at Backhouse Jones, had returned to the kart racing circuits after an eight year absence.

Mark started racing when he was 13 and competed against the likes of Lewis Hamilton in his younger years.

Competing in his first full year of racing since his return Mark won the ten round Cheshire Championship and will be presented with an award at a dinner on 9 January for his efforts. Backed by Backhouse Jones, Mark had to draw on his previous experience to hold his nerve in the final round of the Championship as he was three points behind the leader and last year's champion going into the final race. Knowing that only pole position and a win would be enough to claim the championship the pressure was on. However, the wet conditions played into Mark's hands as he scored a maximum 30 points to claim the championship by just one point!

Afterwards Mark said "I never expected to be competing for the Championship but I've been in contention all year and just couldn't have let it slip away, not least because of the disappointment of telling my colleagues that I'd finished second after so much support."

Mark would like to thank Backhouse Jones for their assistance along with JJR Motorsport, HRS Racing Engines and his Dad!

Mark is now looking to arrange a Backhouse Jones karting event in the spring where clients can race against a Backhouse team. Watch this space...
