Tuesday 17th July 2012Keep abreast of triathlon road events held in central London during the forthcoming Games...
Hyde Park Corner Closure
Don't get caught out. Motorists are advised to avoid driving in central London and around venues and also to be aware that Olympic Route Network (ORN) restrictions apply from Wednesday 25 July. On Triathlon road event days, Hyde Park Corner and neighbouring roads will be closed from early morning and you will not be able to drive close to or across the race routes. If you intend to travel in the area, you are strongly advised to plan ahead.
Thursday 2 August
The Triathlon technical rehearsal will take place on Thursday 2 August; Hyde Park Corner and other roads will be closed from 0330 until 0845.
Saturday 4 and Tuesday 7 August
The Women's Triathlon will take place on Saturday 4 August and the Men's Triathlon will take place on Tuesday 7 August. Athletes will complete a seven lap, 40km bike ride on roads between Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park. The roads on the Triathlon race route will be closed from 0200 and will reopen when it is safe to do so.
On Saturday 4 August, the Men's 20km Race Walk will also take place; this finishes between Constitution Hill and The Mall. These roads will already be closed as they are within the Central London Zone.
The Olympic Route Network (ORN) will operate during these events. Some parts of the ORN will be closed and an alternative ORN route will be in place.
