The DVSA have announced that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all driving and theory tests are to be postponed to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
At present, theory tests have been put on hold up to and including 20 April 2020 and practical driving tests are suspended for up to three months.
This applies to all theory tests, driving tests and driving instructor (ADI) standards checks.
If you have booked to take a car driving test within the next three months, you will receive an email to inform you that the test has been rebooked and this will include details of the new date and time of your test.
You will receive the email approximately two weeks prior to the original test date and the new test date will be around three months after the originally planned date.
If you wish to cancel your driving test and get a full refund, you will need to email email@example.com
If you had booked to take any other type of driving test, such as a motorcycle or lorry test, this will be cancelled and you will receive a full refund.
If your driving test has been cancelled with less than three clear working days’ notice, you are entitled to apply for a refund for ‘out-of-pocket’ expenses.
If you have not already booked a driving test, you will not be able to do so at the moment and once tests begin again, priority will be given to those who had already booked.
If you have booked to sit a theory test up to 20 April 2020, you will be sent a cancellation email and you will automatically receive a refund. You can then rebook the test for 21 April 2020 onward.
If you have already passed your theory test but have not yet taken the practical test and your certificate is due to expire soon, you will have to book and pay for another theory test. Theory test certificates cannot be extended.
If your work is critical to the COVID-19 response or you work in a critical sector, emergency theory and driving tests can be booked. Critical areas include:
