The DVSA has recently released guidance on CPC requirements and Brexit, details of which are set out below.
After Brexit, whether or not there is a no-deal, the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) will still be required to drive professionally in the UK and the Driver CPC periodic training must still be completed on time.
Driver CPC qualifications obtained in other EU countries will still be valid in the UK, however if there is a no-deal Brexit, the EU will not recognise UK Driver CPC qualifications for UK drivers working for UK companies from January 2020 or UK drivers working for EU companies from 31 October 2019.
This means that if you are a UK driver working for a UK company, following Brexit you do not need to do anything else on top of your current driver CPC requirements. All international journeys that UK companies are allowed to make after Brexit will still be able to be done with your current UK Driver CPC qualification along with a ECMT international road haulage permit.
However, if you have a UK Driver CPC qualification and work for an EU company then it would be advisable to exchange this for an EU qualification before 31 October 2019. This would allow you to drive for both EU and UK companies after Brexit.
